The Clauer Winery, situated on the south side of the city of Heidelberg, has been closely associated with viticulture for generations. Although in former times the production of grapes was its focal point, for a number of years wine-making has become of prime importance. We are the only remaining independent Heidelberg winery and offer „Gutsabfüllung“ which means “grown, made and bottled on the estate”. We guarantee that if it’s labelled Heidelberg, then it is 100% Heidelberg wine!“. Few wineries can make similar claims.
From the Heidelberger Dormenacker and Heidelberger „Sonnenseite ob der Bruck“ vineyards, we produce wines for discriminating tastes. Obviously we cultivate the classics of the region such as Riesling, Pinot blanc and Pinot noir. But we also grow some specialities like Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay or the rediscovered St. Laurent.
For some, operating an environmentally friendly winery is a rarity, while for us it is a matter of course. Thanks to the mild climate of „Badische Bergstraße“ (an itinerary through the mountainous region of Baden) we are able to produce wines that match international standards. Therefore, we consider it our responsibility to emphasize that we maintain and improve the regional character of our wines. To prove this, we have become a member of the Slow Food Association, which promotes regional specialities.
We are looking forward to welcoming you to our winery soon. In our small but well-stocked showroom, we invite you to sample some of our wines. Taste our wines for yourself, and you will find out that our slogan
„A NOBLE DROP OF HEIDELBERG“ is really true.
